So, we crested the hill near our house and were shocked to see this in our front yard:

Uh, yeah. Two deer. Just hanging out. Julie was pretty freaked out. I often turn a corner while running and happen upon a deer, so I’m a bit more used to them. But these were pretty big ones for the city:

Yep, they visit sometimes from Mabel Davis. There’s a whole crew of them that live in the park and move up and down the creek. My sister’s dog will run into the woods and flush three or four and come tearing out across the open space of the park. One of the retired couples on our street leave birdseed out and I’ll see the deer there at night several times a year. You’ll also see the deer hanging out by the side of the road that runs between Linder and Mabel Davis. Pretty cool, eh?

Yeah, I’ve just never seen them on Santa Monica. I run into them all the time in and around Mabel Davis. They were very cool.
