Sleep
So I’m a pretty heavy sleeper, but my body also hates alarm clocks. I have a really good internal clock because of this. My body will almost always try to anticipate the alarm clock and wake up just before it goes off. I’m liable to have a heart attack some day. I’m not one of those people who can hit snooze. When the alarm goes off my body has a full blown adrenaline-pumping flight reaction.
Because Stella was getting up around 7:15am every morning my internal clock was wired to not let me sleep after that point. Even when I wanted to on a weekend, and had traded all my video game playing time to Julie for the next 17 years in exchange for her waking up with Stella on a Sunday morning. But lately, Stella has been sleeping in. I get up and change her diaper when the alarm goes off at 7:30am and she goes back to sleep until about 8:15-8:30. It’s been wonderful.
Except that my body seems to have slipped out of the “sleep survival” mode it’s been in for the past 14 months. Suddenly , it’s remembering that it really likes sleep. And it would perhaps like a couple more hours each night. I’ve been feeling really groggy when I wake up in the morning lately. And it just sticks with me all day. Yesterday, I very confidently sunk the 1 ball in a lunchtime game of pool. Without hitting the cue ball first. Today, I found myself almost to the bathroom on our floor with my water cup in hand. Going to refill my water cup. In the bathroom. With what, I shudder to think. I’m sure this will pass quickly, but in the meantime I hope I don’t end up walking out into traffic when the light turns red or something…
We met with the realtor last night who handled The Holmes’ house sale. We liked him a lot. He liked our house a lot, and thought it was ready to sell. Which was a huge release. And even his low price was higher than we were expecting, so that was a pleasant surprise. We’re interviewing another realtor tonight. Tune in Friday to find out who is the last realtor standing. At least that’s when we’ll decide. I’m pretty sure it’ll be anti-climactic.
In any case, have a good Thursday people. Try not to get hit by any SUVs.
