A Good, Busy Weekend

I had my other shower this weekend, and it was so much fun!  Anna, Ashley and Erin really outdid themselves, they even had presents for me in the decorations.  Everyone seemed to have a really good time, and because a lot of people couldn’t make it, it turned out to be a nice number and not overcrowded like I’d feared.  Tim and I just have a lot of friends and we felt bad leaving people out, although we still did, I’m sure.  Our friends have excellent taste, we got so many adorable little outfits that Eunice Tallulah can actually wear since they are summery and comfortable, really designed for babies rather than being the sort of thing you just make them put on long enough to take a picture (although they’re definitely photogenic as well!).  Ian made us the cutest little LGT t-shirts, I cannot wait to show them off!  Perhaps Eunice can make her debut in them during the run of “The Empty Bowl”, assuming that happens.

Sunday we went to the Hell on Earth that is Babies R Us.  It was pretty deserted because of the SuperBowl, and we got there an hour and 10 minutes before they closed, but they started announcing that they were closing soon almost immediately after we got there!  They just wanted to leave and go watch the game.  They are pushy bastards.  BUT, we got a glider and ottoman and a playyard to fence the little girl in.  I love the glider.  I’ve been sitting in it the last couple of nights while Tim reads to the Monkey.  It’s very nice.  Something I discovered while at Babies R Us was:  adorable dresses!  I have not really been sucked in by the temptation to buy cute little clothes for the baby, or to dress her up, but these dresses were so cute, they just were frilly and flowery and beautiful, definitely the perfect Easter dress.  I suddenly wanted one of each of them!  Unfortunately, since Easter is on April 16th, I do not think the monkey will be old enough to go to church by then (too many germs!), but maybe I can just dress her up at the house and take pictures:)

Speaking of church, we FINALLY found one this weekend!  I was starting to get quite depressed over the whole thing.  Both the churches we’d been to didn’t have anybody under the age of 60 and seemed SO dead.  Plus, when we came in, they started coming towards us with this look like “brains, we need fresh brains!”  This church, Hyde Park United Methodist, is small, but has lots of young people, including several babies who will be around the Monkey’s age, and while they immediately greeted us, (and everyone knew we were new and introduced themselves), they were not creepy about it.  There are even “hip” people there, and in fact, Kelly Willis, who is a very famous local singer, goes there.  Tim and I felt very comfortable there and are definitely going back.  Yay, our child will not burn in the hellfires of damnation!  Just kidding!

I went to the doctor today and Eunice is head down, in the correct position.  I had a dream last night she was breech, so I’m glad to hear she isn’t.  Sometimes I’m scared that we’re getting so close and sometimes I can’t wait to meet her, it seems like 6 weeks is forever away.  But I know it will be here before we know it!  I just hope she doesn’t arrive early, because my doctor is going on vacation the week before she is born.  That would be sad for her not to deliver her b/c I really love my doctor.  I love that they always have the right answers to everything I ask, they are definitely women-centric and I’m so glad I decided to stay there even though it’s across town.
