• We Love Puppets!

We got a mention on Small Appliance Puppet Theater’s blog. These are the guys who did the political play involving appliance puppets. It sounded awesome, unfortunately I did not get to see it at Frontera Fest, but I hear they’re going to be doing a show again in Austin before they go to New York City for the Fringe Festival. Paula Gilbert, one of the directors for Slapdash Slaps Back, is an actor in the show. Paula, puppets, and politics promise pleasure. Loaded Gun Theory loves politics and puppets. It’s in our mission statement.

  • Who is Loaded Gun Theory?

Well you can checkout the Chronicle today and find out. Elizabeth Cobbe has written a great article about us and many of the other small companies in Austin. It’s a great way to get pumped about seeing Slapdash Flimflammery 3, and find out about some other companies in town (many of who I’m going to have to go checkout).

  • To Clarify...

We really do have multiple blogs on this site. The Yellow Tapers just mentioned our blogs on the Construction Zone. And I wanted to point out that each member has a blog. You can see the latest post from each one on our main page. Then we have the main Loaded Gun Theory blog that this post is a part of. That will keep you up to date on all the latest LGT goodness going on. Slightly less rambling than our personal blogs. Although, that’s only slightly. If you have a newsreader you can signup for the blogs by clicking the little ![rss] icon wherever you see it.

But, that brings us to some cool stuff. Ian has been working tirelessly on the poster for Slapdash Flimflamerry 3 (coming to you July 8th). I’ve posted the current copy. Pretty cool, eh? Remember to get your reservations in!

Where else can you get 6 shows, written by 6 playwrights, directed by 6 directors, acted by 18 actors, all done in the span of 24 hours? And all you need to do is show up for the performance. Lucky you. So easy to reap the fruits of our labor.

  • Two more...

Slapdash is really starting to come together. We are so excited to have added another writer - Skipper Chong Warson and another director - Hildreth England. Not that they will be involved with each other’s shows necessarily… writers are matched with directors by drawing from a hat. The sacred circle has now been drawn. It will be myself (Timothy Thomas), E.D. Harrelson, Skipper Chong Warson, Julie Winston-Thomas, Brandon Salinas, and Paul Emig. That’s a fantastic group of writers. You’ll be suprised this year! Keep watching this space to learn more about what’s happening with Slapdash Flimflammery 3: Slapdash Slaps Back, as well as secret insights into how this fabulous one-day festival actually works.

  • What a day...

We had a Loaded Gun Theory meeting last night. It went fantastically. Even if everyone seems to be in flux with babies and housing changes. We’ve got [link:LGT.Shows.Slapdash Slaps Back|Slapdash Flimflammery 3: Slapdash Slaps Back!] coming at you July 8th. We could not be more excited. We’ve got a great cast this year, and we’re having a regular Loaded Gun Theory writers reunion. That’s right, you get Brandon Salinas, Paul Emig, Julie Winston-Thomas, E.D. Harrelson and myself (Timothy Thomas). Mr. Holmes will be acting on this one. We’re working on throwing in one more surprise person. It’ll be good times. So get your party boots ready for July 8th.

Of course, before we talked about that we had to talk about [link:LGT.Shows.Bitten!: A Zombie Rock Odyssey|Bitten!: A Zombie Rock Odyssey]. This is going to be the most amazing (and difficult show we’ve ever undertaken). We’re talking to Choreographers, trying to round up technicians. All the good stuff. We’ve got some awesome promotions planned (Zombie Flash Mobs!) that should be fun for the whole family.

This is going to be a big year for Loaded Gun Theory. 3 new kids and 3 new shows. Make sure to keep checking back as things develop. And we’ll let you know the minute you can sign up to be a zombie!

  • Net Neutrality

Save the Internet: Click hereThe phone monopolies are working hard to pass legislation that will degrade the quality of the Internet for all of us. Go to http://savetheinternet.com/. If this passes it is certainly possible that loadedguntheory.com would not be accessible, and that we would no longer be able to afford to send you email updates. This could affect all independent artists without the money to pay these "protection fees".

  • Imagination Penetrative

Loaded Gun Theory is proud to present…
    ”Imagination Penetrative”

An arc of a longer full length piece by Dolores Judith Diaz.

When William Hunt assembles The Pre-Raphaelite Brothers, the most
talented painters in London, he is desperate to put an end to the
unbearable wait he has endured his 21 years. But when the Brothers\‘
own agendas get in the way, they find that their art has turned on
them. Subjects penetrate the real world from their place on the
canvas and the Brothers find themselves face to face with an
    unexpected and dark challenger.

  • Don't forget to Vote!

It\‘s that time of year again. Time to find your driver\‘s license and head down to your local polling place. Prop 2 is getting all the press, but there are several other things that don\‘t need to be in the state constitution that you can take a stand on also.

This will also list your polling place. If you would like to vote early you can do so at any of the places listed here.

  • The Grind has closed.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped to make it such a great success. We\‘re planning our next season and are hoping to have some great new surprises in store!
